Android, G1, Google Guts Phone, Whatever Coming this September?

Android Shmandroid. Delay this, delay that, not until 2009, blah blah blah. It turns out that rumor mills were wrong! Well, maybe. Well, I don't know!

I can't decide what to believe anymore, but TmoNews have put their money on a September 2008 presale date. A bold move, to be sure, but TmoNews cites a "trusted source" as providing the information on the Android phone, which might have a code name or real name of G1.

But how much will it cost?



Reported pricing from TmoNews' Deep Throat is $399, "...but during the presale of the G1, T-Mobile customers can pick up the phone for $150."

Does this mean that only current T-Mobile customers can get the G1 during the presale? If so, all you non T-Mobilers may have to wait until October to order your very own G1. Another bit of good news is the data plan may be more expensive than current ones.

I'll believe it when I see it, but as a fan of Google's well-designed software, I can't help but be excited at the prospect of a phone with "Google Guts."
