In today's world of tech it's all about speed. So we're pretty accustomed to hearing about the fastest computer, the fastest internet connection, the fastest directions to the nearest sushi bar, and so on. But there's a new speed contest on the horizon:

The fastest smartphone?

On the whole, smartphones have been the gadget that's a pain to use but still enjoys enormous popularity because we're told it actually makes life easier. Frankly, squinting at a tiny screen isn't easier than looking at my computer, but I never leave my computer anyway, so it's a moot point.

Now Asus has entered the arena with the P565, the self-described "fastest business PDA phone in the world."

Hmmm, really?

No one can verify that right now because the phone isn't out (and has no solid release date), but the 800MHz processor does sound impressive. The design leaves something to be desired (I think they took the PDA thing too far) but the P565 will have a touchscreen, which is basically a requirement now, and runs Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

We've got reviews of all the best smartphones, as well as a few other great blog posts that look better on a monitor than on a mobile (but, frankly, what doesn't?):
