Samsung Omnia HD
There are a bunch of "World's first ___ cellphone" announcements going on in Barcelona. Here's another one from the Mobile World Congress.Previous details of Samsung's new phones were pretty impressive. It seemed as if Samsung was really trying to seamlessly integrate a cell phone and a camera. We were wrong. They weren't blending a camera and a phone, but combing a camcorder and a cell phone. The new Omnia HD appears to be the first cell phone that can record HD video.
The Omnia HD has a 3.7 inch LCD display with a resolution of 360x640 and all the other goodies you would expect from a cutting edge cell phone. The phone will record full 1280x720 video at 24 frames per second. It looks like cell phones just got a whole lot cooler. This is especially cool since the reigning smart phone from those guys in California can't even record video, at all.
There is no word on when this phone will be available or how much or who will carry it. Now that the bar has been raised, it will be interesting to see what others will do to improve upon it.
