Samsung Juke, Red Review
The Samsung Juke in red is a uniquely designed Verizon music cell phone. Its appearance looks like a cross between a mobile phone and an MP3 player. It is exceptionally small and has a distinctive swivel-open design. This is a fun little phone that can play music as well as many MP3 players on the market.
This tiny juke(box) mobile phone can hold up to 2GB of music, photos and video and is compatible with a variety of Verizon services such as VZ Navigator and Chaperone. If you are looking for a small, stylish and easy to use music phone, the Samsung Juke is worth looking into.
Design and Features
This Verizon cell phone is candy bar shaped and exceptionally small at 3.7 X 1.9 inches and super light at 2.8 ounces. This version comes in a gorgeous, luscious red; however, it also comes in blue and black. The Juke has a unique swivel open design that is quite difficult to explain with out visual assistance. Basically, the top part of the phone flips around 180 degrees and becomes placed above the inner keyboard; when open it looks similar to what a slider phone looks like open.
This little red beauty is a great music player. It can play MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA and M4A audio file types and music can be directly downloaded to it via a PC. One of the most interesting features this phone has is a round scroll wheel that makes it quite easy to search through music files and select songs.
The Samsung Juke can send SMS (text) and MMS (text, image and video) type messages and is compatible with AOL, Windows Live and Yahoo chat services. So, all forms of communication are capable with this efficient little music phone.
This Samsung cell phone has useful productivity tools including a personal organizer with a calendar, calculator with currency converter, a notepad, an alarm clock, a world clock and a stop watch.
This is a great phone for kids and teens because it is compatible with a feature called Chaperone. With a chaperone-enabled phone parents can keep track of where their kids are at and can be notified when they enter or leave designated “Child Zones.” This service is relatively inexpensive at $9.99 a month but can provide a priceless level of comfort and reassurance.
What’s Missing
For some strange reason, the Samsung Juke supported by Verizon, is not compatible with Verison’s Vcast. Vcast is Verizon’s flagship music and video service. This cell phone also only has a 1.3 megapixel camera and it is not 3G compatible. In addition, it cannot support additional memory through a microSD slot which is somewhat disappointing for a so-called music phone.
Summary
The stylish lipstick red Juke is a fun Samsung music phone. It’s compact, easy to use and includes most basic cell phone features.
