Virgin Mobile Announces (Sort of) Unlimited Plan
Although my confidence in our finical system is faltering, I believe there is some economic hope and it lies in cell phone wars. Ok, go ahead roll your eyes, but when desperate times call for desperate measures those services we see as a luxury, i.e. cell phone providers start getting itchy and fortunately for you, competitive.Virgin Mobile announced yesterday it will roll out its $49.99 "unlimited" calling plan on April 15.
Virgin is traditionally a pay-as-you-go kind of company which is very popular in Europe, but here in the States we are more inclined to sell our souls (sign a contract) for a free phone than purchase prepaid minutes.
Virgin Mobile isn't the first second-tier company to get on the "unlimited" train; Sprint subsidiary Boost Mobile launched their "unlimited" service in February, and Cricket has been doing it for years.
Let's see what Virgin has to offer.
For just $49.99 a month on Virgin Mobile you get...
- Unlimited coast to coast talk
- Unlimited coast to coast talk
- Unlimited coast to coast talk
Yep, that is it. Hey, for another $10 you can get unlimited text. But, um, that is about it.
You know what? I recant my comments about economic hope.
