Virgin Mobile Pay-as-You-Go Mobile Broadband Plans Announced
If there is one thing we hate, it's the current mobile broadband plans from cell phone networks. We were anticipating Virgin Mobile's upcoming pay-as-you-go plan in the hopes that it might provide a cheaper, more flexible option. We got the flexibility part (sorta) but Virgin Mobile definitely isn't providing anything cheaper.Here's the basic rundown:
$10: 100MB used within 10 days
$20: 250MB used within 30 days
$40: 600MB used within 30 days
$60: 1GB used within 30 days

That's some serious moolah for the bandwidth; I don't care how flexible it is. Sorry, Virgin Mobile, but this isn't the industry-changing, consumer-saving plan we were hoping for. To add insult to injury, you also have to pay $150 for the Novatel Wireless MC760 dongle, no discounts.
The only people who can benefit from this plan are those who know they can't enter a data contract under any circumstances. But if you're going to need wireless access for more than a few months, you'll still want to consider a full fledged contract over this. Otherwise, you're stuck with finding caf
