HTC Snap Coming to Verizon as the Ozone

We had hints that the HTC Snap would be coming to Verizon (after hearing it would become the Dash at Sprint). Today Verizon made it all official, revealing that the Snap would debut on Verizon networks as the HTC Ozone.

It's obvious that the Ozone is trying to be HTC's answer to the BlackBerry, and while it may come close, the pricing is far better than that of a BlackBerry. The Ozone will be available for just $50 with a contract. It will be available at online stores June 29 and in brick-and-mortar establishments on July 13.

The Ozone will be packing a few Verizon-specific features, including VZ NavigatorSM (turn-by-turn directions) and Visual Voice Mail (so Verizon is dumping the Inner Circle feature?), as well as some common mobile features like instant messaging.

While the Ozone is still basically the same as the Snap we saw at CTIA, there have been a few interface changes that worry us a little. You'll notice that the calling and menu buttons have been moved around and the trackball has been replaced by a d-pad interface. We liked the trackball, so we're a little worried about the change. We'll see how the Ozone compares soon, though.
