Leaked Pics of HTC Leo Show Off Enormous Screen

The HTC Leo has been causing no small amount of controversy in the past few weeks. The renders of the phone were denounced as fake, until a ROM on the Hero confirmed them. Now real images of the HTC Leo out in the real world have further confirmed the features of the phone. And there’s one that stands out immediately when you see them: the enourmous, gorgeous screen.
Just look at the Leo sitting next to the HTC Touch Pro 2, which is actually a pretty large phone itself. The HTC Leo bigger than the Touch Pro 2, and it’s mostly made of screen. That’s what 4.3 inches (diagonal) of finger real estate looks like, and we’re in love. Another shot of the hardware info on the phone confirms the screen is a whopping 800 x 480 resolution. Zounds!
Other juicy hardware rumors are also confirmed by these shots, including the most exciting one: the 1GHz Qualcomm 8250B Snapdragon processor. That little chip should make the Leo one zippy little phone; combine that with a monstrous screen and there are s suddenly a lot of reasons to want this phone. Now.

Other specs confirmed by the pictures include Bluetooth connectivity, 512MB of Flash memory, 320MB of RAM memory and 207MB of storage (probably 256MB total and the phone is just showing 207 of that currently free, maybe?).
Before you get too excited, yes, that is Windows Mobile 6.5 you see on the screen. Not our first choice (why can’t all HTC phones run Android?), but at least it’s better than the current WinMo offering, and it will give the Leo access to the Windows Marketplace. We’re also wondering if this means the Leo is one of the Windows Phones that will be launching with Windows Mobile 6.5 on October 6. That date seems comfortably far enough away that HTC could have the Leo ready for the launch. Of course, with nothing but leaked photos to go on, it’s still a wild guess.
