Rumor Alert: April 30 Release for the Palm Pre
In what could be another salacious Palm Pre rumor or actual truth, Twitter updates from Jim Van, who claims to be a beta tester for the Palm Pre, answer a lot of questions about the Palm Pre, including a possible release date, but leaves even more unanswered.Van made the following statements on his Twitter feed about the Palm Pre:
- Got Pre to work on Twitter, but its a tad cludgy…#Palm Pre
- Sprint claims that 4/30 is a line in the sand, according to my acct mgr there…hes usually right on #Palm Pre
- UI is VERY clean, well thought out, made for fingers. Somebody used their brains on the design. Palms always been cool like that
- Just used browser to remote in and play on our doc server...almost like computing w/out kbd…loaded word doc quickly...nice #Palm Pre
So, it appears that in addition to a plausible release date, the Palm Pre has made some improvements to the touchpad interface and enhanced its web-browsing and remote access functionality, which both seemed necessary given the direction multimedia and internet-enabled phones, business or otherwise, are moving in.
Though Sprint will be exhibiting at the upcoming CTIA, Palm will not be. Whether this info leak was meant to stir up interest in the Palm Pre in lieu of an official exhibition is still uncertain. Hopefully, more info will be revealed the next few days at CTIA.
