WWDC Follow-up: Bootable SD Cards and iPhone 3G S Specs
Apple's big announcements all dropped on Monday at the WWDC keynote address, so it will be a while before we hear anymore big news from them. But now that the fan reactions have quieted down, we're starting to hear some details about the announcements that are quite interesting. Case in point: bootable SD cards for MacBook Pros and processor/memory specs for the new iPhone. It was such a pleasant surprise to hear that the new MacBook Pros, included the newly-promoted 13 incher, will get an SD card slot. Recent details make that announcement even sweeter by explaining that a properly formatted SD card is capable of booting OS X from the slot. That makes the SD slot even more convenient than it already was because it can be used for backup and restoration. There is one downside; the SD slots will not support the upcoming SDXC standard, so you'll never be able to use cards bigger than 32GB.
Thanks to T-Mobile Netherlands, we also have some new details on the iPhone 3G S. According to the T-Mo site, the newest iPhone will have a 600MHz processor and 256MB of RAM. The previous iPhone had half the RAM and a 412MHz processor.
