I haven't liked the names for most phones that have come out lately, and the Motorola Hint isn't any exception. It certainly doesn't have a very subtle look about it, but who am I to determine smartphone marketing plans?
Motorola made the Hint QA30 official earlier this week, showing off pics of the squat little device. It's remarkably stubby for a phone, with a square design and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. My fingers feel cramped just looking at it.
The phone may be marketed to a younger audience, judging by the media options in the specs below. However, this doesn't make a lot of sense considering that the text-crazy youth generally despise a QWERTY keyboard for texting.
Here are the major features:
- 1x-EVDO connectivity
- 2.5 inch TFT display with 320 x 240 pixels and 65K colors
- Threaded messaging
- Full HTML browser
- Facebook access
- Email, IM
- 3.5mm headset jack (nice!)
- Stereo Bluetooth 2.0
- USB 2.0
- 2MP camera
- MicroSD / MicroSDHC card support, up to 8GB
The specs are good enough to make the phone interesting, but we're not convinced that Motorola can pull off the
consumer smartphone thing. It's not like there are raging Krave fans already. We'll have to see if square is the cool thing nowadays.
