New Nokia Touchscreen Phone Has Nice Price, Not Nice Enough Though

The touchscreen media phone is where all the hot action is for cell phone companies lately, and Nokia keeps trying to jump in with limited success, at least here in America. Nokia’s latest effort, the Nokia 5230 has some great features and is much cheaper than previous Nokia touchscreen phones, but it’s still not quite there.
The Nokia 5230 will be $213 before carrier subsidies, meaning Nokia might be aiming for the $100 range with carriers. If you want the Comes With Music Service, you’re looking at a price of $370 (with new subsidies). The phone comes with 3G capabilities, GPS, 2MP camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, and the Symbian S60 operating system. The touchscreen itself is 3.2 inches diagonally, with a 640 x 480 resolution.
Nokia expects the phone to start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year, although no official carriers have been announced yet.
