Wazabee to Make Your iPhone Screen Display in 3D

I just got done being excited about the 3D TV Alioscopy is showing at CES (no dorky 3D glasses required) when I heard about a new screen from Wazabee that will allow you to get 3D images on your iPhone (wouldn't you know it! without 3D glasses either).

Wazabee says they have a "3DeeShell" for the iPhone that uses a special lens to turn the boring old 2D image into 3D. While this sounds like a little bit of magically hokum, their press material sure sold me:

"The Wazabee 3DeeShell uniquely depicts 3D content such as games, pictures and videos on the Apple iPhone in an extraordinarily realistic way. The housing contains a lens that eliminates the need for special 3D glasses, while serving as a stylish protective skin at the same time."
Any press material that combines the words "uniquely," "extraordinarily" and "stylish" has to be true, doesn't it?

Ah, 3DeeShell, you had me at "extraordinarily."

But seriously, can this really work? We won't know until Wazabee shows the 3Dee... oh c'mon, who thought it would be a good idea to make the "D" all cutesy like that. Anyway, the 3D shell thingie will be showing up at MacWorld in January, so we'll have to see what the popular opinion is then.

And if you don't want anything with "Dee" in the title on your iPhone, or for those who don't own an iPhone (a.k.a. those on the Steve Jobs naughty list), Wazabee will also be presenting the (brace yourself) 3DeeFlector overlay for your MacBook Air screen.

If all the 3Dee is sounding dorkier than the good old fashioned 3D glasses, then maybe you should check out some of our other "extraordinarily" 2D blog posts:
